LBP appreciate the last year has been extremely difficult for local charities and we are therefore happy to participate in an extreme charity event, actually we mean nominate Suzy to do this! 

Yes, you've read correctly, Suzy will be abseiling off the I360 in Brighton at 7pm on Thursday 8th July (weather permitting). 

This 531ft wire drop is the highest controlled descent in the UK!

In return for this amusing spectacle, we ask for your help in raising much needed funds for Lancing and Sompting Churches Food Bank, LBP's nominated charity of the year and Care For Veterans who were last year's LBP nominated charity.

Please note that the first £300 raised will go to Care For Veterans and all proceeds over £300 will be split 50/50 between the two charities.

This week LBP completed a full audit of all the potholes, road cracks and pavement hazards across the park.

Many of the public highways on the park consist of a concrete base covered with a tarmac surface. When the tarmac breaks up it exposes the concrete causing shallow potholes to form.

The County Councils Safety Plus Policy states that potholes must exceed a depth of 40mm (golf ball) and a width of 150mm to qualify for repair. Unfortunately due to the concrete base, some of the potholes on the park do not exceed the depth requirement and therefore currently do not qualify for repair.

LBP has reported all the issues which appear to meet the County's requirements, along with seam cracking and pavement trip hazards. LBP has forwarded photographs of each issue for West Sussex Highways to consider.

West Sussex Highways have confirmed that they will be sending out a Highways Steward to review each of the issues reported and will raise repair works in accordance with their policy.

As part of the government’s roadmap to cautiously lift restrictions, businesses of all sizes, including those with fewer than 50 employees, can register from today to order free lateral flow tests for their employees.

Around 1 in 3 people with coronavirus don’t have symptoms, which means they could be spreading the virus in workplaces without knowing. Rapid testing detects cases quickly – in under 30 minutes – meaning positive cases can isolate immediately, breaking chains of transmission.

Regular testing could be the difference between a workplace being able to stay open and operational, or needing to close due to a COVID-19 outbreak. It will form a crucial part of the government’s plan to gradually and safely ease restrictions as we get back to a more normal life.

So far over 3,500 businesses are signed up to offer workplace testing programmes, and over 14,000 have registered their interest in offering rapid testing, with many already rolling tests out.

Businesses have until 31 March to register for the government’s workplace testing scheme, which will remain free until the end of June. All those who can work from home should continue to do so.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said "Regular workplace testing is a vital part of our route back to normal life, which is why I’m very pleased that we’re now expanding our offer of free workplace testing to businesses of all sizes, including SMEs.
