Works Status: On Schedule
Last night FM Conway’s crew transformed the third section of Chartwell Road/Marlborough Road, all the way from Chartwell Business Centre up to and including the entrance to the Marlborough Road Car Park, bringing both back into use for staff and customers from now on.

The crew also planed the section from Marlborough Road Car Park to just before the junction with Winston Road, ready for resurfacing tonight. This means that all vehicles will be travelling the one-way system in two directions via the Chartwell Road entrance tonight, with no vehicular access to Blenheim Road and Brooklands House from 8pm.
LBP is sorry to report that additional double yellow lines have been painted opposite the Marlborough Road Car Park and some are still to be painted after the Chartwell Bend. LBP and the Liners are meeting tonight to arrange all the required amendments.
There will be a difficult juggling act tonight to keep the Chartwell Road junction open for access, as the crew also need to plane Marlborough Road from the junction with Winston Road up to just passed Sussex Transport’s entrance near Commerce Way.
FM Conway has confirmed tonight’s planing will be undertaken in two sections:
- Section 1 - Marlborough Road/ Winston junction to half way across the Chartwell Road junction – during this time please use Commerce Way to access Chartwell Road
- Section 2 – From half way across the Chartwell Road junction to just passed Sussex Transport’s entrance near Commerce Way – during this time please use Winston Road to access Chartwell Road
Please note that two way temporary traffic lights will be in use at the Chartwell Road junction to enable safe access, whilst planing takes place either side of this junction.
We are sorry to say it is very hard to put times on these planing sections but appreciate it’s going to be hard for HGVs to turn if they approach from the wrong access point. Please assume that up to midnight you will need to approach from Commerce Way and after midnight use Winston Road, but please be understanding if you are then redirected to the other access point.
To help avoiding any HGV turning issues, LBP will ask the crew to liaise with known HGV operators to let them know when the switch happens.
Please keep in mind that a two-week full park closure from 8pm to 6am was requested to enable these works. We are sure you will join LBP is thanking FM Conway and West Sussex Highways for working with us to enable business access, by keeping as much as the park open as possible during the works.
LBP has just had a report of vehicles driving too quickly on the planed surface in Marlborough Road. Please could everyone drive slowing on the planed section, as there is exposed ironwork to avoid driving at speed flicks stones and dust up onto the parked cars.
Thank you.
