Works Status: On Schedule
Last night the weather was kinder to us, staying dry and the slight drop in temperature made conditions more suitable for the roadworks crew to keep on schedule, which they did.
LBP is pleased to report that Blenheim Road has now been completed, and the crew safely planed the first section of Chartwell Road after a broken-down flatbed truck was removed from the loading bay near the Fire Station. This provided sufficient carriageway width to enable two lanes of traffic to pass it each other safely.
Last night went without a hitch and LBP would like to thank all drivers for slowing down as they travelled the wrong way around the one-way system. LBP would also like to thank all businesses, night workers and customers for changing their normal parking routines, as this really helped free-up the carriageway width to support the directional changes. Thank you.
We have unbroken sunshine forecast again today, so can all drivers please drive slowly on the new surfaces in Blenheim Road and Spencer Road to ensure they continue to set fully. Please avoid turning the wheel without being in motion, as this will help safeguard the new surfaces too.
As always, the number of traffic movements into the Chartwell Road is expected to be very high today and we ask all drivers to please navigate the works area slowly, as the surface is rough with raised ironwork to navigate around. This section will be resurfaced tonight, and the next section of Chartwell Road will planed.
