Parafix Engineering Apprentice Vacancy

Parafix is a leading converter and distributor of adhesive tapes. We produce components for various market sectors including automotive, medical and electronics.

We are currently looking for an engineering apprentice to join our R&D team in working on challenging and exciting enquires.

As a member of the R&D team your main duties will include

  • - Producing drawings using CAD software (both 2D & 3D).
  • - Working on process development to produce and design the most cost effective manufacturing method.
  • - Mechanical design for fixtures and fittings.
  • - Sampling new products and working with the technical team on the presentation and application of the components.
  • - Support the engineering side of the firm in planned preventative maintenance tasks and fault finding on mechanical systems that fail.
  • - Support manufacturing in the production of finished goods and to learn about the
  • processes that go into producing a product for our customers
  • - Working with our Quality department on product/process compliance and producing all necessary documentation required.
  • - Inspection of goods from the production line.

Desired Skills

Good time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure. Good communication skills and flexibility in the working environment.

Personal Qualities

A great attitude and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications Required

5 GCSE’s with Maths Grade B or above.

Future Prospects

To achieve level 2 and level 3 Engineering Apprenticeships and become a full time member of the Research & Development team.

Additional training will be given to specific areas of work.

£12,500, rising over the duration of the

Qualification information

The successful candidate will be expected to complete a level 3 apprenticeship in ‘Engineering

Technical support’. The apprenticeship will take 3 years and consists of two parts; a Level 3 Btec in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering which will require you to attend college once a week on day release, and a Level 3 NVQ which will be completed at Parafix.

Production Assistant vacancy

The successful applicant must be a qualified fork lift driver and ideally have previously worked in a metal manufacturing environment.  Training will be provided as required.

Working hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 4.30pm on Friday, with the opportunity for overtime and weekend work.

Technician Level 1

This is a permanent position.

As a shift technician level 1, you will be assisting a Senior Technician for the 24/7 operation and maintenance of an Energy Recovery Facility. This will involve the monitoring of the plant such as a generator, steam turbines, compressors, fans and conveyors, as well as being involved in assisting in the general maintenance of all the equipment.

Ideally a mechanical or electrical aptitude is preferred. This is very much a hands on role. You'll also need to be able to work on shifts, which is based on a 4 on 4 off – 2 days 2 nights rolling shift.

We offer a salary of £23,000 including the shift allowance, plus overtime and bonuses. Career progression is encouraged by attaining level 2 status and ultimately Senior.
