    GOOD HEALTH IS GOOD BUSINESS

I am writing on behalf of the Broadwater Osteopathic practice (BOP), to introduce our practice and enquire as to whether our services could benefit your employees. The practice has been located in Worthing for over 30 years and has over 38,000 registered patients on the current books. We see many of your employees for work related injuries and stress related conditions.

There is a clear link between employee well-being and increased productivity. Those employers whom invest in the well-being of their staff, reap the economic rewards of fewer sick days as well as increased business performance.

Last year, UK businesses lost an estimated £100 billion due to absence from work, caused in the majority by musculo-skeletal disorders and back pain. Long hours sitting at work, accompanied by increased stress levels, raise the prevalence of such conditions in the employee population.

Early intervention is key to resolving these issues quickly and effectively, resulting in a healthier workforce with increased levels of productivity.

At the Broadwater Osteopathic Practice, our aim is to help you achieve these goals. We have 13 members of staff and a patient register of over 38,000. Our 7 Osteopaths have a vast amount of experience between them. BOP can offer your staff prompt access to treatment, including weekend and evenings and our Osteopathic, Chiropody and Acupuncture services are recognised by most of insurance companies.  Many local businesses have already linked with the practice to fund treatment for their employees. We can offer in-house massage treatments, discounts off our services for your staff, assistance with well-being days and much much more. Our wellbeing sessions have been requested by more than 20 local businesses this year alone and are offered free to medium and large local companies. If this is of interest to your company, please reply to this email and I will organise the rest directly with you.

We would be more than happy to come and talk with you about the services we offer. If you would prefer to simply list our services on your intranet or networking sites or have a poster to display on the staff notice boards, all can be arranged.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, to assit with your workplace well-being.

    Kind regards

    Susan Bunce Bsc Ost

Adur Sea of Lights - Starlit Story Parade!

Hello, lovely Sea of lights community.

We have set a date for this year's Parade. It will be on Saturday the 26th of November.
This year's theme is literature and our deeply loved favourite stories. We are calling the lantern parade the Starlit Story Parade because we are parading our most loved stories, through our streets and under the stars.

Here is an explanation of the theme...
All schools and groups are welcome. All you need is a favourite and well-loved story to base your lantern on. If you have any questions please do get in touch.

We are hoping this year to encourage more of our Lancing High St shops to decorate their windows and can exclusively reveal the SUDZ Dry Cleaners have already come up with a fantastic and scrublelicious design for theirs. We won't give their t

heme away but will whisper quietly that it is ... based on a Roald Dhal story. Shhhhhh... I never said anything...

Every year we ask for volunteers and this year is no different. If you have some kind of skill or any time to give us we would be really grateful. just email us at hello@seaoflights.co.uk or message us through our Facebook page.

It is always wildly helpful for people to share our posts on facebook and to let everyone know our plans for the coming year.

We will be updating our Facebook page more regularly from September.

We can't wait to really get going.
    See you all soon.

    The SOL team.

A Fleet Requirement for a Flotilla Event in Southampton – Boat Show Delivery Booked in Advance.

    hiab crane port

A HIAB crane lorry, 18t flatbed and an artic curtain side lorry have already been booked in advance for a client making deliveries to the Southampton boat show which is taking place this year 16th – 25th September 2016.

Every September sees the annual ‘Southampton Boat Show’ which is the biggest water based boat show in Europe and is held in Mayflower Park.

This year it’s bigger and better than ever!  Each day the Festival Stage will open up with a fashion show, followed by live music and at the weekends the show organisers will be asking visitors to come and prepare for a Guinness World Record attempt to create a picture of a boat using people! This is a unique opportunity to be part of history and be part of something special.

The Festival Stage area is also the home to the Guinness Bar and the Food Village – it’s the place to relax in a deck chair, rock out or simply meet with friends for a chat and bite to eat. There is also a Sandpit in the Festival Stage Area-  buckets and spades will be provided as will beach Jenga and Connect 4!

In 2007, the show boasted a chance for spectators to see HMS Bounty which was featured in the film Pirates of the Caribbean!

Southampton Boat Show has the world’s largest purpose built marina with over 2km of pontoons, which display more than 350 boats over 10 days!

This year one of the stars of the show will be the tall ship Artemis – Artemis is probably one of the most luxurious and elegant sailing vessels in Europe today, with a large well deck and raised aft deck, a forward deck saloon and an enormous saloon aft with its own

bar that provides an excellent venue for all types of function. The decoration is to the very highest standards, with highly polished fine wood veneered panels, brasswork and deep velvet upholstery reflecting the traditional style of the world’s most lavish ocean liners.

We regularly make deliveries to ports, boatyards, docks and marinas to assist with deliveries, collection’s and lifting requirements.

For your next dedicated job we’d be only too pleased to offer you a quote. Call us today on 01903 751100 or drop an email to info@sussextransport.com

The West Sussex Health and Life Sciences Cluster July Update

Welcome to the latest news update, keeping you informed about the health and life sciences initiatives we are progressing, highlighting relevant sector events and opportunities, and updating you on the exciting things that are happening in the county.

    Funding

Coast to Capital Region Business Growth Grants - Open for Applications from West Sussex Companies

Grants of between £15,000 to £100,000 are available to SME businesses who are located in the Coast to Capital Region and are looking to grow and to create new jobs. The grant can be used for up to 40% of the total project costs and can fund capital items.

For more information please visit or email businessgrants@westsussex.gov.uk if you are interested in the grants programme and would like to learn more about how it could help your business.

Technology and Innovation in the Care Sector – Get involved!

Care homes and providers of domiciliary care are not benefiting from advances in technology and the opportunities to improve both efficiency and quality of care provision.  The results of research and the existence of case studies from the sector indicate that this represents a significant opportunity for SMEs to develop and implement innovative technology and practice.

The University of Chichester is currently developing a proposal for funding from Coast to Capital to run a collaborative 3 year project covering the Coast 2 Capital region involving the University of Brighton, the South East HealthCare Technology Alliance (SEHTA), Sussex Community NHS Trust, Local Authorities, care providers and technology companies to build networks of innovation (clusters) to identify and progress research and technological solutions to significant issues across the care sector. The project will establish the networks, develop a care technology roadmap and administer an innovation award scheme to support applications to promote implementation of innovative solutions across the sector. The project will help care providers and recipients, benefit from advances in digital technologies, health and well-being research and preventative interventions to deliver cost effective quality care provision.

Should the proposal be successful, SMEs will be able to bid for grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 to assist with the development and implementation of innovative technologies into the care sector.  These will need to be match funded to 50% of the total value of the project.

As part of the proposal, the University is looking to establish if there is demand for the grant funding.  If your organisation thinks that it would be interested in applying for a grant and would like to be included on our database for future contact, please e mail:

Philip Todd, Director at BSE3d Limited said:

"knowing that the children have been inspired and enthused leaves me feeling a great sense of achievement. I know they have learnt new and very different things and I hope this will help encourage them into the field of science and engineering in the future.”

The Big Bang Fair South East

It was great to see local cluster members participating in the fifth annual Big Bang Fair South East. The event took place on June 29th and was attended by 8,500 students and their teachers from almost 200 schools across the region. Over 160 companies, professional bodies and educational institutions will provide more than 200 STEM-related interactive workshops, shows and demonstrations aimed at giving young people a fun and exciting insight into future courses of study and careers.

Cluster members including Elekta, GSK, Tesla Engineering, Edwards Vacuum and Blond McIndoe took park in the event providing activities that demonstrated the STEM-related aspects of their industry showcasing the potential career paths open to young people.

Mud, TV Stars, Festivals, Cars and Airshows – We Take Pride in Every Job We Do.

We collect, deliver and lift goods all over the UK.   This week has been another busy one here in our Capel and Lancing depot’s for our dedicated team of professional drivers, warehouse and office staff alike!

The week kicked off with us providing an artic flatbed lorry for Pride – we were responsible for the cast of two very well known TV soap operas in the procession through the streets of London  - resulting in a very happy client who emailed, ‘’ I just want to make sure that you pass on our thanks to your driver. He was absolutely brilliant, and the weekend really wouldn’t have been such a success without him.  We were really impressed with how you guys dealt with the job from start to finish, and will definitely be aiming to send some more business in your direction!’’   Well done Peter!

The start of the working week saw us back at Worthy Farm collecting the equipment we delivered the previous week for the five day music festival, Glastonbury in Somerset.  This one was a real challenge for James  our artic driver due to the amount of rainfall before (and during) the event.  Our lorry was filmed going into the site by someone who posted the footage on various social media sites. This was picked up by various newspapers – so a nice bit of free advertising in the Mail, Telegraph, Mirror etc !  watch that video of James driving through the mud HERE

The lorry survived both journeys – albeit needing a good scrub down afterwards and James did a stirling job!

The HIAB lifting team have also been busy – we delivered and lifted huge car dealership signs in Staffordshire, exhibition equipment was taken to Farnborough in readiness for the set up of the airshow in a few weeks and several more local jobs delivering to and from Hove Cricket Ground in Sussex.
We’re pleased to welcome two new employees over the next few weeks as well – following our recruitment drive to expand the driving team. – to cope with the increased demand in our services!
For your next requirement of lifting, delivering , collection or storage – give the team a call today on 01903 751100 – we’d love to help make your move a success!
